CHIEF OF NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Steve Franklin, Ph.D., is Chief of New Business Development for Wells Real Estate Funds. He created and oversees Wells University, which has educated more than 8,500 Financial Representatives. When Dr. Franklin joined Wells in 1999, the company had $200 million in assets under management. Since that time, his sales leadership has helped the company to invest nearly $11.8 billion in real assets on behalf of more than 250,000 investors.
Prior to joining Wells, Dr. Franklin was President of EduTrek International, a publicly traded firm and the parent company of American InterContinental University. In his role as Associate Dean and tenured Professor for the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, he managed all Executive Education programs and twice received the #1 Teaching Evaluation by Students. Dr. Franklin also served as Executive Vice President and National Sales Manager and was a principal shareholder for Atlanta-based Financial Services Corporation (FSC). He was instrumental in growing FSC into the second-largest independent financial planning broker/dealer in the United States at that time.
Dr. Franklin is a licensed real estate broker and member of the Financial Planning Association and Financial Services Institute. Dr. Franklin served on the international editorial review board of the Journal of Management Development, and he is a member of the Board of Regents for Oxford University's Harris Manchester College in England. In addition to authoring and co-authoring over 40 scholarly and practitioner articles and two management textbooks that were adopted in hundreds of colleges and universities throughout the United States, Franklin and his research have been highlighted in the press, business radio and television programs, including CNN and Gannett Broadcast's syndicated feature "Million Dollar Dreams."
