In 2011, Wells REIT II* purchased Market Square in Washington, D.C. The iconic property is located on Pennsylvania Ave. between the U.S. Capitol and the White House.
In 2003, Wells REIT* makes its largest purchase, the Aon Center, a downtown Chicago landmark and, at the time, the third-tallest building in the U.S.

In 2003, Wells REIT also acquires the Leo Burnett building in Chicago, home of one of the largest advertising agencies in the world.

In 2007, Wells REIT II purchases Key Center in Cleveland, Ohio. At the time, the building was the tallest structure between Chicago and New York.
